FIRST SCHOOL IN PERAMBUR

                  
Jamalia Higher Secondary school was founded by the former M.P. M.J. Jamal Mohideen Sahib of Jamalia Arab College. It was the first school to be started in perambur during 1962, for economically deprived. There are over 600 students studying in the school at present.




The building complex in which it is situated was declared as “Heritage Building”  in 2010. Originally it was intended for the refugees from Burma coming into India in 1925. Later it became the hostel for the students of Jamalia Arab College.


Janab Abdullah Sheriff was the first Haed master of this school, instructions is offered in English as well as in Tamil medium. In 1986 it became government aided school and this in change over enabled the facilities of the school to be improved. Then the chief education officer, janab Sultan Mohiden extended all support for the improvement to be effected.

The school is hearing for the “Golden Jubilee” celebrations planned for 2012. K.K. Mohammed Iqbal is the present Head Master.
